British Ambassador to Indonesia, Moazzam Malik, began a visit to Papua today. During the visit he will visit government officials and universities. 

The Ambassador said:

 “I am pleased to be making my second visit to the region since becoming Ambassador. I am here to discuss issues of mutual interest such as climate change, education and development. I am particularly excited to be visiting UNCEN and UNIPA universities. I want to promote educational partnerships with the UK and encourage more Papuans to consider studying in the UK, including through the UK funded Chevening Scholarships.”

The Ambassador also said:

 “The UK fully supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Indonesia.  We regard Papua as an integral part of Indonesia. We also support the efforts the Government and civil society organisations to address the problems of Papua and hope to see it enjoy the same level of peace, stability, and prosperity as other parts of this nation”.

During the visit, he will meet the Governor, the Chief of Police and other officials. After visiting Jayapura he will visit a number of other locations in Papua. RED-MB
